Mobile App Testing at Testriq

As a quality assurance company established over a decade ago, Testriq QA Lab Llp has witnessed tremendous changes in mobile application testing methodologies, tools, and best practices. We would like to share our experience in keeping pace with the latest technologies for testing iOS, Android, and cross-platform apps.

In the early days, testing mobile apps meant dealing with fragmentation challenges across devices and OS versions. We relied heavily on manual testing with a library of physical devices. Our toolbox included Appium for test automation along with tools like Xcode for debugging. As applications and developer workflows matured, we evolved into advanced techniques like shader testing for graphics.

Today at Testriq, mobile testing spans much more than functional UI checks. Our automation frameworks now incorporate network virtualization, performance testing, security checks, and test data management. Open source tools like Espresso and Earl Grey form the core, complemented by commercial solutions that enable CI/CD integrations. We help clients make the best choices based on project needs – whether Mozilla’s WebDriver BiDi for web views or leveraging Firebase and AWS device farms.

Our current focus areas include test automation for gestures and sensors, computer vision quality checks, and ML testing for scenario based validations. As 5G and edge computing lead the next wave of innovation, we aim to partner with customers right from the planning phases to ensure quality by design. The future roadmap has to address quicker release cycles, analytics driven decisions, and highly reliable testing that satisfies both users and stakeholders.

Stay tuned for more posts detailing our favorite tools, testing trends, and lessons learned while working on 100+ applications over the past decade!
